Conservation Projects Manager

Nicholas supports the development, fundraising implementation and monitoring of our conservation projects. With a background in zoology and conservation science, he started his career studying seals, penguins and albatrosses in the Antarctic. He has since worked for a number of conservation NGOs; most recently, supporting some of WWF-UK’s people-centred conservation programmes. He lives in Scotland with his wife and two young children.

Why A Rocha?

I like A Rocha’s work: the combination of conservation projects, education programmes and scientific endeavour. The space in which it operates linking conservation and Christianity is great, worth promoting and exploring.

You’re bilingual in French and English.

Yes, I was born near Paris and grew up there, so French is my mother tongue, but I’ve worked in the UK for 20 years. I can hold a conversation in Spanish, but I’m out of practice.

You’ve worked in several African countries: what are the special memories?

I’ll never forget diving around Tanzania’s coral reefs, or the incredible range of wildlife on Namibia’s coast, when I was studying their fur seal trade.

What do you enjoy most?

I enjoy witnessing and being part of conservation successes. They are much needed! I like working with people, learning, sharing, and collaborating to achieve our common goals.

Technology: it allows me to work efficiently on a broad range of topics from my desk in Edinburgh. Keeping up with it remains the challenge!
