Executive Director, A Rocha Portugal

Marcial coordinates the Environmental Education and the Science and Conservation directors, and is himself responsible for all of A Rocha Portugal’s conservation work, and all activities in the Cruzinha field studies centre, since 2000. His first contact with A Rocha was a visit to Cruzinha in 1987, and caring for the environment and the people that depend on it has become his life mission. He started working formally with A Rocha in 1992, under its founders Peter and Miranda’s leadership, right after graduating in Agricultural Sciences. He has an MSc in Agricultural Sciences and is currently pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Landscape Management.
