New video: Harvesting Hope in Peru

A Rocha Peru and the international energy company, ContourGlobal, are pleased to announce the launch of their video, Harvesting Hope: Year Two, which showcases the second year of their project to restore endangered dry forest and promote social development in Talara, northern Peru.  The seven minute video features local men, women and teenagers who speak about the project’s impact on their lives and on the land. Field worker Walter, says, ‘I used to behave very differently towards nature, I’d always pull out plants. I just didn’t know and didn’t care. Now I am part of nature, and I work in it and with it.’ See some of the rare birds, including the Peruvian Plantcutter, Phytotoma raymondii, locally known as the Cortarrama, which are benefitting from the 12 hectares of new dry forest at ContourGlobal’s wind farm site.
