Joyful handover of Climate Stewards forests

Climate Stewards is an important part of A Rocha. The website enables you to offset carbon emissions by supporting forestry and cookstove projects in Ghana, Kenya and Mexico. We’re delighted to report that most of our ten-year-old forests in Ghana have already reached the closed-canopy stage and are being given into the long-term care of the local community. During the early years, these indigenous trees (mostly mahogany, kapok, dawadawa and ebony) needed careful weeding, so at school sites, students learned useful agri-forestry skills. In December, Site Coordinators were trained to form management teams who will ensure the continued protection of the forests and the fair distribution of products such as timber, fruit and seeds. If you have contributed – thank you! Wildlife, climate and the local people will benefit from your generosity. Read more
