Introducing A Rocha Portugal’s new Centre Directors

Following a two-year recruitment process and months of preparation to raise their necessary financial and prayer support, Jasper and Tayler Gerhardt from Oregon, USA have now arrived at Cruzinha as A Rocha Portugal’s new Centre Directors. Here they tell us a little more about themselves and their new roles:

Why A Rocha?

‘We love A Rocha because of the way it so strongly binds together our passions for intentional community and creation stewardship. Since learning about A Rocha in 2014, we have sought opportunities to find out more and volunteer in our native USA and abroad. For us, A Rocha gives shape and direction to our efforts to impact the world, inspiring us through its stories and relationships.’

What will be your main responsibilities as Centre Directors?

‘As Centre Directors we are tasked with the care and upkeep of the house and grounds of Cruzinha, A Rocha’s centre in Portugal, as well as welcoming the many visitors who come to stay, study and serve. We have left our home in Oregon to make a home here, and to continue in the culture of making this place a home for so many others.’

What are you most looking forward to?

‘We are honored and excited to continue Peter and Miranda’s vision for Cruzinha as a place of transformation through serving God, community and creation. We deeply value the ministry of hospitality and are eager to play our part in the work God is doing through A Rocha. For us, this ministry means generously extending God’s lavish love to everyone we greet here.’
