Golden celebrations planned for Courmettes centenary
If you are going to be in the south of France at the end of the month, why not consider taking part in a very special weekend of celebrations at Les Courmettes?
On 31 August 1918, Les Courmettes was purchased by Pastor Stuart-Léo Roussel who had a vision of a ‘sanatorium that would be open to everyone, without denominational distinction, but with evangelical leadership and with the Bible and the person of Christ as the foundation for everything that takes place there’ (writing in L’Aube, Revue d’Action du Réveil, 1918).
100 years later, from 31 August to 2 September the team will be hosting a weekend of festivities, complete with talks, walks, exhibitions, book launches and lots of other activities, as well as a sponsored walk from the sea at Cagnes-sur-Mer to Les Courmettes.
Jean-François Mouhot, the Director of Les Courmettes, is leading the programme of activities. ‘One of the highlights of the celebrations,’ he says, ‘will be the centenary service at 14:30 on Sunday 2 September, led by François Clavairoly, President of the Protestant Federation of France. We will have many other activities around conservation and nature, do have a look at the programme of events and join us if you can. All will be very welcome!’
