We’re counting down the days …

From 12 noon on #GivingTuesday 29 November, A Rocha International will take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2016 – the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign.

This means that any donation you make through the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge website will be doubled (while match funds last) by generous supporters and the Big Give’s philanthropic partner, the Reed Foundation (International).

Our overall target is to raise £21,000 for A Rocha’s work with Kenyan ‘beach boys’. The project has two aims: firstly, to conserve the shores of Watamu Marine National Park, at risk from tourism, but rich in corals, sponges, sea anemones and other beautiful, often rare, rockpool inhabitants. We also want to improve the livelihoods of Kenyan beach boys who try to eke a living by showing the local wildlife to tourists, but can easily get caught up in drugs and prostitution. With your help we could train them to become official rockpool guides, well equipped to share their knowledge, to protect the pools and to protect themselves.
