A prayer for Paris

Dear A Rocha friends,

The eyes of the world are on Paris, following the terrible attacks on Friday [13 November 2015].

As you pray in response to the news, and its implications, please join us in praying for safety and security during the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris. The event will begin on 30 November.

Let’s also pray that those attending will recognise climate change as an issue of national security. Global warming, if not restrained, will destabilise many nations.

We would also value your prayers for A Rocha, the Lausanne Movement and Tearfund as we prepare together to ensure that a Christian voice is clearly heard in Paris. Read more.

We offer this prayer:

‘Our Father, merciful Creator God,

We ask for comfort and healing for all who have been injured and bereaved in the attacks on Paris.

We pray that the perpetrators of the atrocities might be caught, and brought to justice and repentance.

We pray for courage and wisdom for the political and military leaders of France.

May all who govern the nations of Europe, the Middle East and beyond recognise and overcome the evils of violence against people and all your good creation.

As we look ahead to the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, we plead that those attending would not be distracted by the attacks, but might be all the more determined to work together for the well-being of the Earth.

Thy will be done.’
