Can you #PrayForPeru?

Peru has been suffering from torrential rains, catastrophic flooding and landslides since the beginning of 2017.

In direct response to these recent adverse weather events, the A Rocha family has combined forces to fund emergency kits and medical supplies meaning A Rocha Peru can give practical support to those who have been so badly affected.

A Rocha Peru distributes supplies to flood victimsNational Director Camille Allan asks that you strengthen A Rocha’s support by praying for Peru. She requests: ‘The donations we have received from A Rocha around the world have enabled us to help far more people than we ever could have reached on our own. Please pray that this emergency will serve to awaken the nation of Peru, in particular its Christian community, to our responsibility in caring for creation, and that A Rocha Peru can play its part in that transformation.’

Climate change gives rise to more unpredictable weather patterns and some experts believe the heavy rains are due to the El Niño phenomenon. Camille adds: ‘In La Esperanza (where we have our Peace Centre), the community is without sufficient potable water and in San Pedro de Lloc (location of our dry forest project), local people have lost their homes and are sleeping in makeshift accommodation with plastic roofing whilst heavy rains continue.’
